2025 Japan summer trip:

Overview
For our 2025 Japan educational trip, our group will visit and homestay in 3 cities in Gifu (Ogaki City, Hashima City, Mizuho City) and Kumamoto City (Kyushu Island) and Gotemba City in Shizuoka. Our sponsors will arrange our homestay and organize various cultural activities. On weekdays, we will visit schools (high school, middle school, elementary school), tour a local industry, meet the mayors of several cities in Gifu and Shizuoka, experience wearing the traditional Kimono or Yukata, tea-ceremony, flower arranging, music, folk dance, craft, and martial arts, tour Kyoto or Nara, Miyajima Island, Hiroshima (the Atomic Bomb Memorial Museum), and Tokyo, participate in an international seminar, and attend “welcome” parties as special guests. During weekends and evenings, our host families will treat us to some fun activities, including local tours.
Cost of the 2025 Japan trip: $4,500 [estimated]
This includes:
- round-trip airfare from Portland to Tokyo and from Tokyo to Portland
- most meals
- educational/cultural activities
- homestay in two locations (Gifu and Kumamoto or Shizuoka)
- 3 days in or near Tokyo (hotel with 4-5 star rating)
- a full-day tour of Hiroshima
- a full-day tour of Kyoto or Nara
- full-day tours/transfers between cities by Shinkansen ("Bullet Train”)
using 2-week JRPass
Our cost is less expensive than other similar programs in the U.S.!

How to apply for 2025 Japan trip
Email Dr. Ozawa ([email protected]) to request a 2025 Japan trip application form. Fill out the application form with an application fee of $80 (by personal or cashiers check or money order payable to OIA or Oregon Intercultural Association) and mail them to Dr. Ozawa. If your application is accepted, your check will be processed. If your application is not accepted, your check will not be processed.
